Scholar Application Process

Step 1a:  Applying for and Accepting a Paid Scholar Position

Exchange Visitors that are interested in a paid scholar position at Embry-Riddle often are recruited because of connections they have with a sponsoring ERAU department or individual professor.  If you have already had contact with an ERAU department or professor and have been offered a position then you must accept the position by following the directions on the official offer letter.  If you have questions please contact the ERAU Human Resources office.

Please keep in mind that paid scholar positions require a sponsoring professor or department.  If you do not have a sponsoring department or professor you may not apply for a DS-2019.  The Office of International Student & Scholar Services does not maintain a database of scholar positions, however if interested you may reach out to the Dean's offices at either our Daytona Beach or Prescott campuses to inquire about potential sponsors.

Step 1b:  Applying for and Accepting a Non-Paid Research or Professor Position

Exchange Visitors that are interested in a non-paid scholar position at Embry-Riddle often are recruited through an MOU or other formal agreement that Embry-Riddle has signed with another institution. In these scenarios the home institution is responsible for paying the exchange visitor's salary.  In this case you will still need a sponsoring ERAU department or a sponsoring faculty member.  If you have already had contact with an ERAU department or professor and have been offered a non-paid position then please ensure that your sponsor has informed the Office of International Student & Scholar Services of your acceptance of a non-paid position.

Please keep in mind that non-paid positions require a sponsoring faculty member or department.  If you do not have a department or supervising faculty you may not apply for a DS-2019.  The Office of International Student & Scholar Services does not maintain a database of scholar positions, however if interested you may reach out to the Dean's offices at either our Daytona Beach or Prescott campuses to inquire about potential sponsors.

Step 2:  Applying for a DS-2019

Once you have accepted either a paid or unpaid position, your sponsoring ERAU professor or department will start your DS-2019 application. After the Office of International Student & Scholar Services reviews your DS-2019 application, you will receive an email with login credentials to our online Scholar Portal. Upon receiving access to the Scholar Portal, you will be asked to provide personal information and upload required documents.
